Hanger Strap

Buying Out Hanger Strap vs. Cutting in House

Shops love to use up their “drop” but rarely, if ever, is drop 10 ft long. This means shops are taking 4 x 10 or 5 x 10 prime sheets and cutting 48″ to 60″ strips off each sheet, then taking about 25 of the strips, stacking and taping into a bundle, then sending out to the field along with the fabricated ductwork.

Most shops use a 10 ft Shear + 4 x 10 or 5 x 10 sheet to make Hanger Strap in house. This is a waste of prime sheats and wears down the 10 ft Shear

Many shops make hanger strap in house, however safety is also a concern when unwinding a taut coil in the field

Hanger strap as it is seen mostly in 100 ft coils

Many shops, especially the larger ones, have done studies and found that the cost of doing this in house is often nearly twice the cost of buying them out already cut, stacked/bundled and taped coils or boxes of strapping.
