Cable Operated Dampers

Cable Operated Dampers

Gear Driven COD in 6” diameter with a 3 ft internal cable assembled with a Self Stick Round Conical

Cable operated dampers allow the balancing contractor a convenient way to adjust air volume from a more accessible location. The cable operated damper is mounted upstream of the air device. The adjustment cable is routed to an appropriate area.

As per SMACNA Duct Construction Standards section 6.7, adding a converging taper will substantially diminish the loss of energy and even a flat flange on the end of the ductwork will reduce the loss to about one-half of the loss through an un-flanged entry. The design of the conical damper greatly increases the efficiency of the air flow in the ductwork.

Cable operated dampers are the most convenient and economical way to balance air flow through the face of a diffuser. The damper is installed upstream of the diffuser with the control cable outside the airstream. The air flow is adjusted by simply pushing or pulling on the core wire which changes the damper blade position. Once the adjustment has been made, it is locked by tightening the set screw nearest to the looped end.

The Conical Cable Operated Damper Assembly allows for easy installation due to its self-stick double faced gasket which comes pre-applied to the flange.

Just peel, stick and fasten with sheet metal screws through the pre-punched drill holes. This eliminates the need to cut an exact hole and speeds up the installation process, while the gasket securely seals the connection after installation.
