26 Gauge 10-ft seamed pipe, water tight, with one end crimped. Atlanta and most all of Florida spec 26 Gauge on the same applications as above.

Traditionally, 4” diameter Rigid Vent Pipe has been used for dryer vents while 3” diameter for bath fans. However, in multi family applications they will often combine multiple appliances and vent with larger diameters through the roof. Bathroom fans and the Clothes Dryers are vented out of the building with the 4” Vent Pipe, 10 ft long and seamed with an Acme Lock; Snaplock pipe is not used because it would require screws which would penetrate into the air flow and catch lint. A few jobs have a metal chase around center of building and run all pipe thru it to the roof, but most apartments run the pipe out of the wall from each apartment to the outside with a lateral run thru the siding and then terminating with a Dryer Vent Cap with damper and flap.

There was an international code adopted almost 15 years ago that requires 26 ga but not all areas adopted this (it varies by state and even city). While the city of Atlanta requires 26ga, others require 28 gauge. Residential New Construction Homes are still at 30 gauge.
