All Electrodes, Nozzles, Swirl Rings, Retaining Caps and Shields wear out on a Plasma Torch Head and have to be replaced; because of this they are referred to as Consumables. The Electrodes and Nozzles wear out after 6 to 8 hours of Plasma Cutting. The other consumables should last 6 to 10 times longer.
When you notice a wider cut on the Metal check your Electrode to see if its tip is molted and if tip hole is over 1/32″ it’s time to change. It’s recommended you change the Electrode and Nozzle together so you will have the perfect cut.
