20 Ga 60 x 120 Cold Roll Black
Gauge 20 ga Length 120 in Width 60 in Hardness 60 RB Tensile Strength 50 ksi Cold Roll Black is hot roll carbon steel that has undergone an additional “cold reduction” at the mill. It is smooth, with a light oil coating to prevent oxidation, rust, and the flaking that is common in hot roll black.
16 gauge is the most common thickness used by duct fabrication shops, typically for making welded grease ducts in restaurants, hotel kitchens, office complexes, and concession areas in arenas.
18 gauge is a distant second in popularity, since nearly all black iron ductwork applications involve welding—and 16 gauge is much easier to weld than 18 gauge. Anything thinner than 18 gauge is generally not used in welding applications due to its difficulty.
