Fiberglass Pipe Insulation insulates copper and black iron piping that helps carry domestic hot and cold water, roof drains, PVC piping in plenums, Polypropylene piping, Chill water piping, etc. The pipe insulation comes in 3-foot sticks, with insulation ranging from 1/2″ to 5″ wall thicknesses.

In a typical rectangular duct job, 75% is comprised of straight runs of Duct. Automating the fabrication of these Duct Sections can take a 2 day process to a 2 hour one. Vicon intentionally manufacturers their Coil Lines so that the contractor can dip their toes in the water with a Front End Line that is expandable to a Full Wrap Line at a later date, thus avoiding having to purchase another machine when they decide to go “Full Wrap”.

There’s a specific machine that should sit beside and work in tandem with every TDC/F Rollformer. That machine is a Power Brake designed to bend the duct into an L section after it’s run through the Rollformer.

TDC/TDF is rollformed on the duct wall in the fab shop; if a shop has a full wrap coil line, they are able to produce fully formed duct sections more efficiently—almost fully automated.

What do contractors mean when they talk about Straight Duct and Fittings in Rectangular Duct Fabrication?

One of the most manual tasks in Duct Shops is the process of laying out, measuring and manually cutting liner fittings to their corresponding metal fitting. Liner Drop accumulates daily in each shop due to measuring mistakes and poor cut optimization, the result of which is that duct shops buy significantly more liner than necessary each year. Shops that struggle with this are the same ones who understand how much labor and scrap savings the Plasma Table has meant for the metal.

A TDF Flange is more difficult to form and requires a 16-station rollformer, whereas a TDC profile can be produced on a 12-station rollformer. This poses a question to the contractor:

The 12-station machine rolls a TDC profile flange onto the end of the duct joint using the same gauge metal as the duct, meeting SMACNA classification for the T25 rolled on transverse connector.
