Pleated Filter 16 x 20 x 2
Brand Purolator® Depth 2 in Manufacturer Parker HVAC Filtration Division Width 16 in Alternate Part Number 5251104789 Height 20 in Type Pleated Filter - Standard-Capacity MERV 8, MERV-A 8-A
- New automated process delivers consistency and durability
- Durable, self-supporting synthetic media
- No metal, fully incinerable
- Die cut frame with interlocking corners for added strength
Seven-strap Die Cut: A seven-strap die cut is located on the air-leaving side of the Key Pleat MERV 8, providing additional strength and durability to each filter. In combination, the boxed pleat tips offer more surface area and secure contact points for bonding the die cut to the media pack. For instance, pleat tips are glued to the die cut at over 140 points on a 24″×24″×2″ Key Pleat MERV 8 standard-capacity filter.
100% Adhesive Application Ensures Filter Strength: The interior of the die cut frame is fully coated with adhesive to ensure a solid bond at all contact points with the media pack. This ensures the pack is sealed inside the frame, with pleat tips firmly bonded to the stabilizers and diagonal supports.
Water Repellent Adhesive: The adhesive used to bond the media pack to the frame is highly water-repellent. This feature allows the filter to retain structural integrity even when exposed to moisture, with no delaminating, buckling, or collapsing.
Uniformity of Pleats: Consistent pleat height and spacing provide optimal performance throughout the filter’s service life. Self-supporting media combined with automated construction ensures low airflow resistance and energy efficiency. Even pleat spacing allows for balanced dust loading, increasing the dust-holding capacity and extending service life. Pleats remain stable and resist bunching or collapse, which can increase pressure drop and lead to filter failure.
What is a MERV Rating? MERV, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, is a standardized rating system developed by ASHRAE to define filter efficiency. A higher MERV rating indicates greater efficiency at removing smaller airborne particles. For example, a MERV 8 filter removes finer particles than a MERV 7.
Applications: The Key Pleat MERV 8 is best suited for standard HVAC applications with normal airflows (500 FPM or lower) and medium dust-loading conditions. It is not recommended for use in environments with high or turbulent airflow, elevated temperatures, or excessive dust accumulation.
