Automating Fabrication of Straight Duct

Harry Thompson IVMarch 6th, 2019
There are two operations that even a Full Wrap Coil Line with every bell and whistle cannot complete: The Seaming of the Pittsburgh Lock and the insertion of the 8 Corners.
Three machines will automate the part of the job that accounts of 75% of the Duct on a typical commercial job. Vicon Seamcloser and Dual Head Corner machine completes the Trifecta of machinery required for Automation of Straight Duct Sections.
Without a Vicon Full Wrap Coil Line, a Pittsburgh Seamcloser and a Dual Head Corner machine, making this many Rectangular Duct Sections would have taken days instead of hours.
A Full Wrap Coil Line can get you to here…but to finish the job requires inserting and securing the eight corners and seaming the Pittsburgh Lock.
Getting to here—completed Straight Duct sections ready to be shipped, hung and connected—requires 1) folding the Pitts seam into a Lock and 2) Inserting and securing the 8 corners.
