HVAC Duct requires a stiffening bead since the gauge used for most duct jobs is a sheet metal that would otherwise give way to buckling vibrations and noise when airflow travels thru it. Although a shop can use a Floor Mounted Hand Brake and manually bend an X from each corner edge (aka cross brake) this becomes a more labor intense task. Investment in a Sheet Beader, or Duct Beader, is therefore common in any duct shop.
The Beader is typically positioned near the Plasma Table so that when the fittings are burned out, labels applied and removed from Plasma Table, the next step is flipping over (upside down) so that it feeds into the Beader with the Labels facing down.
The metal exits the Beader with Beads facing down and remains that way throughout the balance of the rollforming processes which typically is the Pittsburgh followed by the Drive turn or the TD rollformer.
5 ft x 18 ga capacity, forms 5 beads on 60” wide sheet, easy width adjustment to incoming sheet, beads fixed on 12” centers.
